Our tree was decorated by our children's ministry, Kingdom Kids. We used the tree to hold a fundraiser with the proceeds supporting our sponsored child in India. She lives in poverty with her parents.
The photo ornaments on our tree are pictures of people and families that donated money toward our sponsored child. Each photo ornament only cost $1 to make, a reminder that many people around the world lives on less than that. It also reminds us that we are blessed to have plenty, and we can be a blessing to others by giving back, especially this Christmas. Our tree is also themed with red and gold to represent salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Harvest International Christian Church is a Pentecostal church established in San Jose in 1992. We are family-oriented and have life groups throughout the Bay Area helping families grow in faith together. We are also mission-minded, planting churches and supporting missionaries around the world.
We decided to decorate a tree because our families have been enjoying Christmas in the Park for many years. Also, 2013 marks a special year for our church because we moved to a new location and have gone through many ups and downs. Visiting our tree and the park is a great way to spend time together.
