The LGBTQ Youth Space Tree #458

The LGBTQ Youth Space, a program of Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley, is a safe and confidential drop-in center and counseling provider for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and ally youth and young adults ages 13-25, living in Santa Clara County. We promote community building, community involvement, leadership development, and provide support for those who need it.

Our tree decorators were an assortment of drop-in center staff, interns, and youth participants. Anyone who helped create the decorations or simply wanted to help decorate, was encouraged to participate.

We didn't have a specific theme in mind when decorating the tree, but we did want to incorporate the rainbow flag to represent LGBTQ community pride. Also, we were able to repurpose some items we had at the Youth Space for decorations. We made our own "garland" out of old t-shirts.

If community members would like to donate to our program, they can through our parent agency's website: www.fcservices.org. Also, we have volunteer opportunities at the Youth Space for youth and young adults ages 13-25.
