Girl Scout Troop 60379 Tree #316

The entire troop which consists of 12 Juniors ages 9-10 decorated our tree. The troop chose to focus on music. They have been working on increasing their knowledge of Girl Scout traditions and music is one of the popular traditions. They have learned and shared a multitude of traditional songs.

We have participated for two years. It's a great learning opportunity for the troop and also forms lasting memories of working together towards a common goal.

Our troop is very active in non-profit work; every year we adopt a family for Thanksgiving, supplying them with an entire Thanksgiving meal and decor. We participate in the One Warm Coat drive, help Los Bomberos of Northern California with their annual toy drive among many other activities. For the first time this year, we also supplied a family with a decorated Christmas tree and presents.

The adult volunteer leaders, the families and the girls scouts themselves, share a sense of community the day after Thanksgiving. We share a feeling of belonging to San Jose and to its larger group of Scouts with a common cause. The tree decorating at Cesare Chaves Park is something our girls will always remember and associate with San Jose traditions.
