We are a Girl Scout troop, Cadette level, all 6th graders from Campbell's St. Lucy School and Rolling Hills Middle School. Nine girls from the troop (out of 13 total) participated in decorating the tree.
This is the fourth year the troop has participated in Christmas in the Park. It's a tradition that began when the girls were 3rd graders. The girls chose a reindeer theme, and all ornaments (except for the tree topper) were made by them.
We participate in a large number of community service projects all year long. In May, some of the girls traveled to Arnold, CA, and helped ready a Girl Scout Camp for summer sessions. In July, other girls helped out at an HP Family picnic in Cupertino. In August, some of the girls participated in a Pack for Pride event at My New Red Shoes in Redwood City. Also that month, all of the girls did 1 of 2 park clean-ups in Campbell. In October, we were in charge of a water station at Campbell's Oktoberfest Fun Run. In November, our troop teamed up with a Junior troop and placed nearly 1000 flags above the grave markers of Veterans @ Gate of Heaven Cemetery. This month, we are collecting clothes for HOPE, we will be singing Christmas Carols at Corinthian House (a Campbell retirement facility), and some of the girls will also help with toy distribution preparations for Toys for Tots in Campbell.
