Biblioteca Teensreach Tree #216

TeensReach is a group for teen library users at San Jose Public Library; this group is at the Biblioteca Branch Library. It does community service for the library, advises the library on teen services, and has fun activities including crafts.

The eight teen participants who decorated our tree were regular members of the teensReach group who have been participating over the past 2-3 years. The Biblioteca Branch Library is just south of downtown, and the teens walked about a mile to decorate a tree at Christmas in the Park. The decorations included laminated photos of teensReach activities as well as "tin art" ornaments made by the teens using both Aztec and their own creative images.

This past year the teens staffed the Summer Reading Program, held a Mother's Day Party at the library, held several fundraisers for their activities, and helped out with craft programs and the book giveaway at the annual Community Posada.
