Summit Public Schools: San Jose Tree #719

This is the first year that we have decorated a tree. It was done by the Student Council of Summit Public Schools: San Jose. We are a new charter high school - this is only our second year in existence. Our school prepares a diverse student body for success in college.

The ornaments were handmade by our group and represent different aspects of our school. First, the school colors are green and orange, so we wanted to feature those colors. Second, the school motto is College, Character, Community, so we put that on the white ribbon going across the tree. Finally, we also have six Core Characteristics at our school - those are represented on the round orange plates - Courage, Compassion, Curiosity, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility.

Some of the members came to help us decorate the tree, and after we looked at some of the other trees, we went out to lunch. Our Science Club visited the Tech Museum recently and came to see our tree.
