Girl Scout Troops 60448, 60929 & 61684 Tree #239

Three girl scout troops from the Evergreen Service Unit troops 60448, 60929 and 61684 got together to decorate our tree.

All three troops wanted to have hand made ornaments. The idea of the snowflakes/stars come from one of the troops who had learned how to make these while at a girl scout summer camp. The snowflakes are made of cloth, and are intricate as they are folded back and forth to make a swirly like pattern. The snowflakes represent winter-time and Christmas as well as teamwork as all the girls got together a few times to learn and make the snowflakes.

The girls are in grades 5th through 8th and have done several community services projects with the City of San Jose, San Jose Family Shelter, City of San Jose public libraries, Lake Cunningham Native gardens, Toys for Tots, Second Harvest Food Bank, Sacred Heart and San Jose City's Ant-Graffiti Program. The girls are proud and enjoy the opportunity to be able to give back to the community. The older girls have given over 60 hours to some of these communities.
