YWCA - Project Inspire: Overfelt Tree #444

Coming up with decorations that were both creative and weather resistant was our biggest challenge. The students and staff decorated the tree. Students took the pictures and staff developed the pictures. And together we created the picture frames and sealed with contact paper to be weather resistant.

This is Project Inspire's first year participating at Christmas in the Park. We decided to participate for many reasons: the students were given an opportunity to contribute something positive to their community, it was an artistic outlet for our students, and having the YWCA and its youth services department, Project Inspire, well-represented - from each site.

The best moment came when creating the theme for our trees and what would best represent YWCA: Project Inspire - Students brainstormed and had "a-ha" thoughts..."Pictures, our shields, mentoring, and most important of all our Project Inspire Values."

The mission of the YWCA of Silicon Valley is to empower women, children and families, and to eliminate racism, hatred and prejudice. We welcome any help from the community; material donations for our cooking, art, and computer clubs. Most urgent, we need college students that are well versed in mathematics and are willing to volunteer a semester commitment with our program.
